Administrative Assistant III (Full-Time) – Edmonton, Canada

Summary:?? Provides general administrative support and customer service and coordinates office operations for the program or department under general supervision.? Apply knowledge of supervisor’s work commitments, including status of projects and nature of contacts in responding to inquiries, setting priorities, arranging meetings, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following;?other duties may be assigned:

  • Provide administrative support duties to maintain office operation, including but not limited to the following:
  1. ?Track departmental expenditures; create and process financial documents;
  2. Screen and direct calls; greet visitors; and respond to frequent inquiries regarding programs by telephone or correspondence;
  3. Schedule meetings, interviews, or special events;
  4. Prepare event arrangements, announcements, agendas, reports, minutes, department calendars, etc;
  5. Prioritize and distribute electronic and standard mail, independently handling routine inquiries;
  6. Order supplies, equipment, and arrange for maintenance services;
  7. Make copies;
  • Coordinate office operations for assigned program or department.? Establish procedures, priorities and deadlines.? Create and maintain documentation regarding job and office activities.? Make recommendations for streamlining or process improvement.
  • Ensure that operational documents are in order.? Work with student or faculty involved and follow up to ensure that records are completed and all information is tracked and recorded.
  • Create, modify, and/or maintain and archive physical files and electronic records using spreadsheet or database software such as PeopleSoft, BlackBoard, SharePoint, and Curriculum Development System.? Ensure that records are up-to-date, accurate and accessible.? May include records maintained in accordance with state, federal, provincial, or accreditation requirements.? Assist users experiencing system problems.
  • Prepare and proofread a variety of documents such as correspondence, spreadsheet or database reports, meeting notices and agendas, manuscripts, schedules, student evaluations, etc.

Faculty positions

 

Capstone Project Supervisor?

The final capstone or human subjects thesis project for the M.Ed. in School Counselling degree demonstrates the application of skills and knowledge designed to address a “Problem Statement” in an educational or clinical counselling setting. While the capstone project is a conceptual literature review and proposal for further research or program implementation, the thesis is a full minimum 5-chapter human subjects research study applicable to the K-12 context. The course outcome is a capstone project of 35+ pages that includes all aspects of the design, execution and analysis, using Ethics Board approved methodology. Course Entry Requirements: Prerequisites are all prior courses in the program of study.

Instructor:?ECC 511 Research Methods in Education

City University Canada is seeking an instructor for Research Methods in Education. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of research methodologies and analyses relevant for use in educational settings. Students in this course will learn how to interpret and use various research methodologies including action research, data driven instruction and assessment. They will also find and evaluate research materials to develop skills in critiquing published research. They will also find and use research to complete a review literature and methodologies to develop a research plan for their final capstone or thesis.

This course introduces sustainability frameworks that companies can use to make business decisions that strike a careful balance between corporate profits, environmental stewardship, and social justice.? Emphasis is placed on strategies to resolve ethical conflicts using values-based strategies that respect the needs of all stakeholders.? Students will analyze business practices to identify ethical conflicts that are a result of an overemphasis on corporate efficiency and profits and will have the opportunity to suggest alternative corporate strategies that are beneficial and responsible to all parties.

Students will learn to integrate concepts such as net present value, weighted cost of capital, capital budgeting, working capital management, and forecasting into a project management context.

Instructor: CPC 695 Counselling Psychology Research Project

This course builds on the students overall academic work and introduces the steps of producing a major scholarly document. It is designed to support students in demonstrating familiarity with theories, issues, and problems in counselling psychology research. The final scholarly research document will create the opportunity for the student to critically examine their philosophy of counselling, explore their sense of self as a therapist, research and critique a pertinent counselling issue or topic in depth, and propose and describe critical aspects of a research methodology appropriate for further research in this area. The course outcome is a research project (of 45+ pages that includes all aspects of the design, execution and analysis of research using accepted methodology).

Term: teaching 100% of 5 credit course in Edmonton, AB, starting January 2019.

Instructor: EGC 533 Child and Adolescent Growth and Development

EGC 533 Child and Adolescent Growth and Development:

This course provides an in-depth exploration of individual differences in child growth and development. How children learn differently in various ways and its relationship to developmental issues will be explored through research readings, self- reflection, papers and collaborative discussions. The theory covered in this course provides a platform for observation and case study work carried out in counselling internships. The course identifies and compares various theories of child and adolescent growth and development and aids in understanding their application in the classroom. Influences of various ethnic, socioeconomic, cultural, age, gender, sexual orientation, family constellation, migration, substance misuse, violence and illness considerations on development will be explored.

City University of Seattle Canada is seeking Part-Time Adjunct Faculty to teach?this course that explores human sexuality and development across the lifespan from a range of perspectives. Dominant cultural assumptions about heterosexuality and the experiences of lesbian, bisexual, gay, trans, two-spirited, and queer persons will be considered. Classical developmental theories will also be examined along with their predominant theoretical critiques.

NAS 331: Biodiversity and Conservation

Biodiversity and Conservation incorporates an interdisciplinary approach to the study of biodiversity and conservation, with a foundation in ecological theory and principles as a basis for the conservation and management of natural, production, and disturbed systems.? Students explore biodiversity as an ordered progression in biological complexity, from genes to ecosystems, and the mechanisms behind the development of species and ecosystems.? The key processes that threaten biodiversity conservation are examined. The impact of humans on the earth’s biodiversity and current issues in the conservation of biodiversity are examined, in both global and regional settings.? The scientific basis of species and habitat conservation and current practices and problems are also explored.

NAS 332: Sustainable Resource Use

Sustainable Resource Use provides students with an understanding of the principles of sustainable development, with a focus on the environmental impact of current land and resource uses. Human impacts and land use over the past 200 years are examined, along with the limitation of current environmental policies and legislation.? Forestry, fisheries, mining, energy, agriculture, and urban development, and the impact of each of these on the environment, are reviewed, both locally and on a global scale.? Economic growth and traditional management practices are analyzed.? Current approaches to land and resource use and planning, including world-wide environmental policies and legislation, are evaluated in terms of their contributions to global sustainability and options for the future are reviewed.? Students leave the course with an appreciation of the challenges of sustainable resource use.
